| How much of a leader's track record can I trust? | Only what is verified and long enough to include a losing period. A twelve-month record through varied conditions tells you something; three profitable months tells you almost nothing, and platforms sort by recent return precisely because it attracts capital. |
| What does copy trading actually cost? | Usually a performance fee to the leader, sometimes a wider spread on copied trades, and occasionally a fixed monthly charge. Add all three before comparing against trading the same strategy yourself. |
| Can I override a copied position? | On most platforms yes — you can close a copied trade manually or set your own stop. Check this before committing, because platforms that lock you into the leader's exits remove your only risk control. |
| What happens if the leader blows up? | You take a proportional share of the loss. Copy trading distributes the strategy, not the risk, so allocate across several uncorrelated leaders and cap what any single one controls. |
