What a real sign-in would do here

In a production build this page would exchange your email and password for a session, set an HTTP-only cookie scoped to PipDig, and return you to whatever premium page you came from. “Keep me signed in” would extend that session rather than storing anything in the browser that a script could read.

Because none of that is wired up, the form deliberately stops at validation. Nothing you type reaches a database, an analytics call, or a log line — the password field is read into a local variable, checked for length, and discarded with the request.
