US residents can only trade Forex with CFTC/NFA-regulated brokers. We tested every major US-facing broker on pricing, platforms, and withdrawal speed to rank the genuinely available options.
The brokers below are ranked based on regulation, pricing, account structure, market range, overall usability, and platform quality. No broker is best for everyone, but each broker on this list offers a clear advantage for a specific type of Forex or CFD trader. Updated in August, 2026.

| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can US residents legally trade Forex? | Yes, but only through a broker registered with the CFTC and a member of the NFA. Offshore brokers that accept US clients without that registration are operating outside the rules, and you would have no recourse through US channels if something went wrong. |
| Why is leverage capped at 50:1 in the USA? | The CFTC caps retail Forex leverage at 50:1 on major pairs and 20:1 on minors. It is a consumer-protection rule, not a broker limitation — every compliant US broker applies the same cap, so leverage is not a point of difference when comparing them. |
| Why is the list of US brokers so short? | Registration is expensive and the capital requirements are high, so far fewer firms serve US retail traders than serve Europe or Australia. A short list is a sign of a strict regime rather than a gap in our research. |
| Does the FIFO rule change how I trade? | Yes. US accounts must close the oldest position in a currency pair first and cannot hold opposing positions in the same pair. Strategies that rely on hedging or on partial exits in a chosen order need reworking before they transfer to a US account. |
