Central Retail teams with NAPAS and VietinBank on VietQR Global

Central Retail, NAPAS and VietinBank signed a memorandum of understanding to promote cross-border payment services between Thailand and Vietnam through VietQR Global. Central Retail said the aim is to expand options for consumers and tourists and make spending between the two countries more convenient.

Central Retail said it was citing Bank of Thailand data from 2025 showing inbound and outbound QR payments worth more than 5,935 million baht, up 129% from 2024. It also said the figure reached 1,014 million baht in January 2026.

The company said it will use its retail and wholesale network of more than 3,000 branches in 63 provinces in Thailand to promote the service. It said Vietnamese visitors can scan QR payments through mobile banking or e-wallets from their home country at Central Retail stores in Thailand.

Central Retail said Thai tourists in Vietnam can also use mobile banking from Thai banks to pay at Central Retail stores in Vietnam. NAPAS said the tie-up is another step in expanding VietQR Global, while VietinBank said it supports a cashless ecosystem linking the two countries.

Central Retail said the agreement could also lead to benefits, spending campaigns and other services in future.
