The company said the result followed more than two years of R&D investment. It said the work was driven by expectations for demand in the automotive market.

Safety package

Chips&Media said WAVE6331X FuSa is designed to detect anomalies and help move a system into a safe state within a defined fault response time. It said the design includes real-time CRC protection and instruction flow monitoring.

The company said the package is intended to support automotive SoC developers and includes a Safety Manual. It said that customers can use the certified SEooC package for integration, verification and safety assessment at the SoC level.

Company comments

“Achieving the ISO 26262 ASIL-B certification proves that Chips&Media's functional safety design capabilities are world-class, marking our official evolution from a multimedia IP provider into a global automotive safety leader,” Steve Kim, CEO of Chips&Media, said.

He said Chips&Media’s video codec IP is adopted by three of the world's top five automotive chipmakers. He added that the company will expand beyond being a traditional multimedia vendor.

Chips&Media said it is also preparing to apply the same functional safety framework to AV2 and VVC.
