EU says it will work with ICC after US sanctions move
The EU said on Friday it will work with the ICC after the United States announced intentions to impose sanctions, with a six-month delay before the measures apply.

The European Union said it will work closely with the International Criminal Court after the United States announced intentions to impose sanctions. The EU said there is a six-month delay before the measures become applicable.

The commission said it remains committed to working with all 125 states that are parties to the Rome Statute. It said the aim is to preserve and respect the court's independence so it can continue its mission.
The EU also said it stands ready to take any necessary measures to enable the court to carry out its work. That includes investigating and prosecuting war crimes and crimes against humanity.
It added that any steps would also seek to protect the interests of EU operators within the Single Market.
